Sarah Tipton found her way to genetic counseling after working as a registered nurse, and then a nurse practitioner, alongside several incredible multi-disciplinary teams in pediatrics, women’s health, and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. She was introduced to genetics during her graduate nursing education in 2001 while at the University of Pittsburgh, in Pennsylvania. Since that time, she has watched genetic knowledge impact the care, treatment, and well-being of many individuals and families. Marveling at the influence of genetics and genetic testing in the provision of healthcare, Sarah decided to join the team of experts providing education and support. Sarah pursued a graduate degree from Boise State University and was awarded a diploma, as a Master of Science in Genetic Counseling, in 2021. Sarah’s areas of special interest continue to include women’s health issues, namely oncology and infertility.
Originally from Ohio, Sarah has embraced Kansas City as her second home and the birthplace of her three children. Helping them discover their passions by transporting them to various practices has become a regular part of many of her evenings. When not at work or acting as chauffer, Sarah and her husband like to enjoy Kansas City’s wonderful culinary, live-music, and art scenes.
